Pop Culture Help

OK I need help, I'm out of the pop culture loop and its starting to drive me crazy.

Particularly TV, I love good TV, these days, I love good TV even more than a good movie, its quicker so I have more ability to be able to finish it in one sitting, its like a book with chapters, it give you the perfect amount for one sitting.

I should explain to you that I have always taken good TV kind of seriously, I picked the shows I wanted to watch each season, some would be like old friends coming back with more of the story, some would be new, these generally have one or two episodes to catch me and if they don't then I have more to do with my time that get involved in a crappy TV show.

Yes yes I can hear all you non pop culture people saying "but Leigh its only TV you've got better things to do than even good TV" and yes your right but shush i like TV and that's that's.

These days the TV stations are ..... well I promised I wouldn't swear but you get the drift. My problem is that there is no continuity with TV stations these days. Gone are the days where you turn the telly on at 8.30pm and the show that you expect is on, these days if the show is even on, its starts 15 minutes late because its after Big Brother or something.

I give in, I'm not going to watch free to air TV anymore, I'm not going to invest my time in TV station's that don't care if I'm watching, taking shows off mid season with no warning, moving the day and or time with no warning, and not giving me any way of finding out whats happening

Here is a test; the show Supernatural was showing on Ten at 9.30pm for the last few weeks then this week ..... gone. Go onto the Ten website and see if you can find out whats going on!!! after 15 minutes browsing, I found out that it was off and it wasn't my imagination, but do you think that I could find out anything about why it wasn't on or where we were up to or most importantly when it will coming back on, NOPE !!!

So like I said before I give in! no more network television, I will download, wait for DVD release, and take control of the TV. No more nights waiting for bloody Supernatural, and end up watching Law and Order (I don't want to watch Law and Order I'm all pumped up for some Demonic aggression)

Next thing, if I don't have to limit my TV watching to shows the networks deem worthy, it opens up the whole worlds TV productions. That means I need to have the time to research which shows are worth downloading ........ ahhhhhh who has time to do that ?

Maybe I should just unplug it, never "WE WILL NOT GO QUIETLY INTO THE NIGHT" (pop culture quote)

As I said in the title I need help, what do you watch? what did you love? and where do you find out about what to watch? how do you pick off all the millions of shows which ones you will spend your precious time watching? and yes I do mean you my beautiful Brisbanite friend "and your pretty dog to" (another pop culture quote)

And whats going on with Doctor Who, Torchwood, Supernatural, Lost, Big Love, Heros, hmmm I'm sure there were others, plus was the new Battlestar Galactica any good??

Come on people HELP !!! :)

A lot of shows are not on, being cut short, or having replays screen because of the writers strike in the US. A lot of the shows had to go on hold because there was nothing for them to tape!

"WE WILL NOT GO QUIETLY INTO THE NIGHT" (pop culture quote)

Do Not Go Gentle Into that Good Night
by Dylan Thomas

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Thanks Kristie :) I know about the writers strike, I just can't believe that the networks didn't ever advertise the problem and keep us updated you know?

Ohh and the highbrow 1/2 of me did know that the Independance Day quote was a Dylan Thomas take off:)
